Worlds Apart is a distinctly Australian SF comedy novel, combining the wild humor of Douglas Adams’ Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy with the dark tone of Red Dwarf.
AFI Award judge Hamish McLeod noted that Worlds Apart presents a thought-provoking vision of the future with strong narrative style and dialogue, well developed characters, action, suspense, and a smattering of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. He also noted that the balance of comedy and SF is 'perfect' – the humor provoking laughter, without detracting from the 'hard' scientific content.
The debut novel by young Australian writer Chuck McKenzie, Worlds Apart is Book 1 of the Jack Vance Quartet.
